Your teen is complicated. You want to understand them but at times that seems to be an impossible task.
One moment they’re happy and the next they erupt with emotion. You’re worried and feel helpless because you just don’t know what to do to help them manage their anxiety, depression, social anxiety, or whatever other struggles they are facing. You love them so much and would do anything to get them on the right track—you just don’t know what that is yet.
At Grow · Thrive we understand teens and the pressures they face. The teen years are rarely easy. The developmental task of this period is to grow from a child to an independent, capable adult. They must do this while their bodies and brains are undergoing immense physical changes that literally impact how they see themselves, others, and the world. To further complicate matters, today’s teens must do all of this under the scrutiny and influence of social media. It’s no wonder why rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide have increased drastically in recent years.
We work with teens and parents to navigate the muddy landscape of adolescence. Our therapists are skilled at relating to teens and earning their trust, which is the basis for all good clinical work. Our goal is to help teens work through their painful feelings (depression, anxiety, perfectionism, low self-worth, etc.) by learning to understand them better, while also gaining skills to manage them more readily. We also equip parents with tools to help them relate to their children more effectively and rebuild healthy parent/child relationships.
If you’re ready to take the next step in helping your teen to make lasting, positive changes, please give us a call.
