Treatment of Children and Teens
As specialty trained, child/adolescent psychologists and therapists, we have spent thousands of hours in pre and post-doctoral training learning the most useful therapies and evidence-based practices to help children thrive.
Our goal in working with children and teens is to help them gain the skills needed to cope with life’s stressors, have meaningful and healthy relationships, manage painful feelings, regulate emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors, increase self-confidence, communicate effectively, and learn to express their needs.
We believe that “children do well if they can.” Typically, when kids have behavioral problems it’s tied to deficits in certain skills. The work of therapy becomes to teach the child the skills they are lacking and to coach the parents on how to support their growth and development. At Grow · Thrive we approach treatment with children and adolescents in a collaborative, goal-directed way. We aim for therapy to be a team effort between parents, the child/adolescent, and therapist, because we know that is how growth is sustained.
If you’re ready for your child to begin gaining tools and strategies to manage their feelings and behaviors in more healthy ways, or if you have any questions about whether or not they would be a good fit for therapy, please reach out. We’re here to help!
